JO-2018: French biathletes in bronze, medal record of Sochi matched
Biathletes French bronze medalists relay at the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, February 22, 2018
France clinched its 15th Pyeongchang Olympic medal after bronze medal winners on Thursday, matching its record at the Sochi Winter Games four years ago.
Anaïs Chevalier, Marie Dorin, Justine Braisaz and Anaïs Bescond offer the 5th medal to the French biathlon at the Olympics in South Korea after a race won by Belarus ahead of Sweden.
France is currently 6th in the medal standings.
France can still hope to beat this record since there are still three days of competition before the end of the Olympics, including the relay men in biathlon on Friday.
In Sochi four years ago, the biathlon girls had not brought back any medals.
Marie Dorin and Anaïs Bescond clinched their second medal at the Pyeongchang Games after the gold medal at the mixed relay.
The Blues have pocketed so far 5 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze. They had never done better so far at the gold medal level: in Sochi, as at the Salt Lake City Games in 2002 or Grenole in 1968, France had four.
