Pre-trial detention for two influential Catalan independence leaders

A judge of the Spanish National Court has ordered pretrial detention for the leaders of two influential Catalan independence organizations, Jordi Sánchez and Jordi Cuixart, charged with the crime of sedition, judicial sources said.
Sánchez and Cuixart, who were appearing Monday for the second time in the high court in Madrid, are accused of having summoned and harangued hundreds of protesters on September 20, making it difficult for hours for Spanish police officers to leave their premises. Catalan government in Barcelona.
