Mausoleums of Timbuktu: a Malian jihadist responsible for repairs for 2.7 million euros

The International Criminal Court (ICC) said on Thursday that the Malian jihadist Ahmad al-Faqi al-Mahdi had caused 2.7 million euros of damage by destroying the mausoleums of Timbuktu in northern Mali in 2012 and ordered The payment of compensation to the victims.

“The Chamber orders individual, collective and symbolic reparations for the community of Timbuktu, recognizes that the destruction of the protected buildings has caused suffering to people throughout Mali and the international community and considers Mr. Mahdi responsible for the repairs to 2 , 7 million euros, “said Judge Raul Cano Pangalangan in reading his order.
