Washington sanctions 8 Venezuelan officials including a brother of Chavez

The United States on Wednesday adopted sanctions against eight Venezuelan officials, including a brother of former President Hugo Chavez.
US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin justifies this decision by their involvement in the establishment of a constituent assembly deemed “illegitimate”. “This regime is unacceptable and the United States will stand by the opposition against tyranny until Venezuela restores a prosperous and peaceful democracy,” he said.
